Minor Horace Howe

Biography
Minor H. Howe was the son of Lucius Howe. He is buried at Oakwood cemetery in Cuyahoga Falls next to his wife Eliza J. Harrison. It is possible that Minor H. Howe was the owner of the "Howe Hotel" .

7/4/96 In the Cuyahoga Falls Reporter newspaper article dated Friday February. 23,1906 of Minor Howe's death it reveals that he has one brother Orville Howe of the Falls. Further, it mentions that Minor was married before to a woman who's name is Diantha Wilcox .
This article also reveals that Minor Howe's second wife Eliza was named Eliza Lowery. She was previously married and had two children. "Lowery" may have been her maiden name or previous married name. The 1900 census records list a Emma Evil as a house servant that lived with them.

7/5/96 The "Howe Hotel" was never owned by Minor Howe. Some years after Minors death the land was leased from Mrs. Minor Howe by Ozier and Lowery who built the hotel and named it in her honor. The hotel was built in 1915. The site of the "Howe Hotel " was once occupied by the seed and grain business of L. Kryder and Sons. This firm was sold in 1911 to Mrs. Minor Howe.

2/7/98 From the 1880 Census of Ohio, the county of Mansfield shows Minor Howe, his wife Eliza and daughter Hattie. This is the first evidence that Minor had a daughter. She was 18 years old at the time of the census. It would also appear that he spelled his name Miner and not Minor. Also, I uncovered with the help of my brother Jim, land maps of early Summit county. From 1891 and 1874. They reveal the location of Howe Co. and the farm that Lucius Howe settled on when he came to Ohio in 1833. Also, other land holdings of the Howes. (See Appendix D)

4/16/98 From the will of Miner H. Howe I have uncovered that he left for Orville the sum of $5,000. He left for George Lowery son of his wife the sum of $10,000 of which a note of $3,500 was being held against it. He left to Hattie Ozier daughter of his wife what was known as the "Brown farm", in the township of Northampton, containing about 330 acres. He left to Sarah Dawson, niece of his wife the sum of $5,000. Everything else he left to his wife. Earlier I had found a census record that showed Miner had a daughter Hattie Howe. The census is obviously in error. As Hattie is his wife's daughter. Hattie married Fred Ozier.
