6/29/98 From information supplied by James R. Howe, who recieved this information from Jerry France we have some sketchy details on the life and times of Peter France. With some level of certainty we are sure of a few facts. From a pension record from the Revolutionary War of 1776 he enlisted at age 25 and joined the Maryland Line. He was discharged at age 28. We also obtained his birth date from this record as well. Also from this record we find that he was in Fort Washington when it was overtaken by the British. He was taken prisoner and put in a prison ship at New York. He was sent home on parole and some short time afterwards was stationed at Fort Frederick in Maryland. Some time afterward was moved to Pittsburg and continued there until discharged he was then 28.

Information that has yet to be proven include, Peter's birth place reportedly said to be Alsace. Presumably, from the country of France. He came to America when he was only 12 years old. He is said to have had six children by his first wife (ancestry unknown), they are Jacob, John, William, Peter, Elizabeth and Margaret none of whom we have birth or death dates. It is also reported that Maryland records show a Peter France registered for the Presidential Election in 1796.
